Who Is SetupTeam?
Three people: Alex Braiman, Max and Ilya. Alex founded SetupTeam in 2015 as a mechatronics engineer, having noticed that most AV installers in Toronto treated the job as a commodity. Mount the TV, leave the box, move on. He believed homeowners and businesses deserved something closer to what an engineering firm would deliver: a proper plan, clean execution, and a system that works the way it should on day one.
That idea grew into a company. Today, SetupTeam is a three-person operation with over 10,000 completed projects spanning TV wall mounting, home cinema, Sonos multi-room audio, Control4 automation, structured wiring, Wi-Fi optimization, security cameras, and commercial AV — all completed in-house by our own technicians, across Toronto and the full GTA.
We carry Sonos Gold Dealer and Control4 Authorized Dealer certifications, $2,000,000 in liability coverage, full WSIB registration, and Houzz awards from 2018 through 2023. The engineering background is not decoration on a bio. It is why a quote lists the cable spec and the run length before it lists the price, and why the Control4 programming is written by the person who scoped the system.
Why We Talk People Out of Equipment
Because the wrong hardware is what generates the service call eighteen months later. Our recommendations start with what serves the room, not what carries the higher margin. Where other providers might suggest complex or costly solutions, we recommend only what addresses your specific requirements. A full-motion TV mount, for instance, is rarely necessary; we suggest it only when your layout demands the flexibility. If a room genuinely needs the in-wall run or the second access point, we say that before the quote rather than halfway through the install.
Between us we cover mechatronics, electronics engineering and cybersecurity, and we keep training as the hardware changes. With over 10,000 completed projects behind us, most of our new work comes from returning customers and their referrals — which only holds if the first job stays quiet.

What Each of the Three of Us Does on Your Job
Started SetupTeam in 2015 to bring engineering discipline to residential and commercial AV. Leads system planning, client consultation, and quality standards across every project.
Mechatronics Engineer LinkedIn Profile →Strengthened the technical backbone of the company. Handles system configuration, network architecture, and operational coordination behind the scenes.
Cybersecurity & Network EngineeringThe hands-on precision behind every finished room. Leads on-site installations and ensures every mount, wire run, and calibration meets the team's standard.
Electronics EngineerOne Quote Covers the Job, Scope to Walkthrough
One quote, one crew, one number to call. Our own technicians do all the AV work, and when a job needs a trade outside that scope — an electrician for a new circuit, or drywall repair after an in-wall run — we bring in a vetted partner and manage them ourselves. Every SetupTeam project is delivered under a single scope — from the initial conversation and equipment sourcing through wiring, installation, calibration, and your final walkthrough. One crew owns the outcome.
Equipment is sourced through authorized dealer channels. We work with brands proven in real-world installs — Sonos, Control4, Samsung, Sony, Denon, Marantz, KEF, UniFi — and recommend based on your room, your use case, and long-term reliability. Not margin.

Common Questions About SetupTeam
- SetupTeam handles TV wall mounting, home cinema builds, Sonos multi-room audio, Control4 automation, structured network wiring, Wi-Fi troubleshooting, security cameras, commercial display installation, and video conferencing systems. All AV work is carried out by our own technicians across Toronto and the GTA.
- Yes. We carry $2,000,000 in commercial general liability, maintain full WSIB registration, and work to the Ontario Electrical Safety Code on every low-voltage installation. Documentation is available on request before any project begins.
- We cover Toronto and the full Greater Toronto Area — Vaughan, Mississauga, Markham, Richmond Hill, Oakville, Newmarket, Aurora, King City, Scarborough, North York, Etobicoke, and surrounding communities. If your area is not listed, contact us and we will confirm coverage.
- Cost depends on scope, equipment, and site conditions. A basic TV mount is a different conversation than a dedicated cinema room with Dolby Atmos and structured wiring. We provide a written quote with full line-item detail after an initial consultation — no obligation attached.
- Not for the AV work. Alex, Max, and Ilya handle every install directly — site visit, wiring, mounting, calibration, and walkthrough. When a job needs a trade outside that scope, such as electrical or drywall work, we bring in a vetted partner and manage them ourselves, so you still deal with one point of accountability.
- A straightforward TV mount usually takes one to two hours. A home cinema installation with in-wall speakers and structured wiring can span one to three days depending on complexity. We confirm the timeline in your quote so you can plan around it.
- We hold Sonos Gold Dealer and Control4 Authorized Dealer certifications. Beyond those, we regularly install Samsung, LG, Sony, Denon, Marantz, Rotel, KEF, and UniFi networking gear. Every recommendation is based on proven field reliability, not sales incentives.
- Yes. Our commercial work includes boardroom AV systems, Zoom and Teams conferencing rooms, lobby and reception displays, office-wide multi-room audio, and structured network wiring for businesses across the GTA.
- We review your space, discuss what you want the system to do, check existing wiring and infrastructure, and identify anything that might affect scope or cost. You receive a detailed written quote after this step — no commitment required to proceed.
- We are available seven days a week, Monday through Sunday, from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM. Call us at (647) 464-0606 or submit a request through our contact page any time — we respond to most messages within the same business day.
