What does a Sonos Amp do for your home?
It turns the passive speakers you already have, in your ceiling, in a wall, on a bookshelf, or bolted to the patio, into a full Sonos system you control from one app. It also fixes a beautiful TV that sounds thin, because nobody ever gave the room real speakers.
Speakers you already own
Speakers you already installed (or inherited from the last owner) start working with the Sonos app and every other Sonos speaker in the house, with Trueplay tuning available where it applies (Sonos In-Wall or In-Ceiling by Sonance speakers, and home theatre rear channels powered by the unit).
Real TV sound
Your TV connects into the unit's HDMI input, so dialogue and sound design come through proper speakers instead of the TV's built-in ones.
One system, room by room
One system controls indoor rooms, an outdoor patio zone, and the TV room together, or keeps them separate, your choice, room by room.
Room for a turntable
A turntable or CD player can plug straight in if you still use one.

A third scenario: a condo or townhouse living room with a bookshelf pair of passive speakers that came with the place, never wired to anything better than a basic stereo receiver. One Amp replaces that receiver, and the same bookshelf speakers start streaming from the Sonos app, joining whatever else is playing upstairs.

We check whether your existing speakers and wiring can take an Amp, place the unit somewhere it won't be seen, reconnect or extend the speaker wire already run to the room, connect your TV so it finally sounds right, and set up the Sonos app before we leave, so every zone works and is grouped the way you want.
Confirm the fit
We check the speakers already in place: what type of speakers they are, wiring condition, and how many zones (ceiling, wall, outdoor, TV) one Amp can realistically cover, since each Amp powers one stereo pair.
Place the Amp
We place it in a media cabinet, closet, basement rack or utility space near the existing speaker wiring, never somewhere it interrupts the room's look.
Reconnect or extend the wiring
If the original speaker wire is already run to the ceiling, wall or patio, we test and reconnect it; if a run needs to be extended or replaced, we handle that too.
Wire in the TV
The TV connects to the unit's HDMI input, so TV audio, streaming apps and any connected devices play through the speakers. If the TV doesn't have the right HDMI port, an optical adapter carries the audio instead, though TV-remote control of it isn't available that way. Tune with Trueplay, where it applies
Trueplay works with Sonos In-Wall or In-Ceiling by Sonance speakers, and with an Amp powering rear surround channels in a home theatre. We run it wherever it applies so the room's shape and furniture are accounted for, not just the amp's raw output.

What does a Sonos Amp cost, installed?
The unit itself is $1,049, and delivery anywhere in the GTA is free.
Setup and installation are two different things. Setup is unboxing, connecting it to your Wi-Fi and Sonos account, grouping it with your other rooms, and Trueplay tuning, and it's free once your Sonos hardware order reaches $1,500. Below $1,500, setup is $150 when the Amp is bought here. It does not include running or reconnecting speaker wire, mounting anything, or cutting into a ceiling or wall. That's installation labour, and it's quoted separately because every home's wiring is different.
At $3,000 in Sonos hardware, you also get a $150 credit toward installation, valid for 12 months.
Installation labour has no flat published price because it depends entirely on what's already run and what isn't. We quote it after seeing photos or visiting the home. Buying through SetupTeam gets that labour 25% off, with a $200 visit minimum ($150 after the discount).
Will an Amp work with what you already own?
If the speakers are passive (no built-in amplifier, no Wi-Fi of their own) and wired with standard speaker cable, an Amp can power them. That covers most ceiling, in-wall, bookshelf and outdoor speakers. It drives one stereo pair (left and right) at a time, so a home with several zones, say ceiling speakers in the kitchen, a separate outdoor pair and a TV room, needs one per zone. We confirm compatibility with your specific speakers before anything is ordered.

For the TV room, it connects to your TV's HDMI port, as long as the TV can send its sound out over HDMI. If yours can't, an optical adapter carries the sound instead, though TV control features (CEC and voice) aren't available that way.
