What is the Sonos Beam Ultra?
A compact Dolby Atmos soundbar for mid-size living rooms and media rooms. Sonos describes it as 7.1.2: nine drivers, including two tweeters that fire upward through horns for height, driven by nine amplifiers in a bar 75 cm wide.
It sits between the Beam (Gen 2) and the Arc Ultra. It suits most mid-size living rooms. For a bigger room, compare it with the Arc Ultra on our Sonos installation page.

Why pay for Beam Ultra setup when it plugs into the TV?
Because most of the work is in the TV's settings, not the cable. Plugging in the HDMI cable takes a minute. Getting Dolby Atmos to arrive, the TV remote to control volume and dialogue to stay clear takes settings on both the TV and the Sonos app, and those settings differ by TV brand.
eARC set on the TV, not just plugged in
We use the HDMI port marked eARC, switch the TV speakers off and set the TV audio output so Atmos passes through. Leave the output on PCM and you lose the height channels without knowing it.
Trueplay for your room
Trueplay measures how your room reflects sound and adjusts the bar to it. A room with a glass wall and one with a sectional against the back wall need different corrections.
A mount that lines up with the TV
We centre the bar under the screen, keep it from blocking the TV's remote sensor and leave clearance above it for the up-firing tweeters, following Sonos's mounting guidance.
Cables you do not see
When the TV is on the wall, we run the HDMI and power in the wall where your wall allows it. Brick, tile and concrete condo walls get a paintable surface channel instead.

Setup, if the bar sits on a console under the TV. Installation, if it goes on the wall or the TV is going up at the same time. Setup is a fixed $150 with a bar bought here. Installation depends on the wall, so we quote it after you send a photo.

What can you add to a Beam Ultra later?
A subwoofer, rear speakers or headphones. The Beam Ultra works with Sonos subs and rear speakers, and you add them in the Sonos app. Order a sub or rear speakers with the bar and the total can pass $1,500 before HST, which makes setup free.
A Sonos subwoofer
Sub Mini for most living rooms, Sub 4 for larger ones. The bar stops working as hard on bass, so voices stay clear at higher volume.
Rear speakers
A pair of Era 100 speakers behind the seating turns the bar into a surround system. We place them, run power where needed and set their levels.
Sonos Ace headphones
TV Audio Swap sends the TV sound to compatible Sonos headphones, so one person can watch late without waking the house.
