What does it sound like in a kitchen, ensuite or hallway?
Picture a Toronto kitchen at 7am: two grilles in the ceiling above the island, coffee going, and the morning news or a playlist filling the room evenly, corner to corner, with no speaker taking up counter space near the stove. In the ensuite, the same pair plays music at the vanity while you get ready, without a portable speaker crowding the counter. In a condo hallway that used to be dead air between rooms, one pair closes the gap so music follows you from the living room to the bedroom instead of stopping at the doorway.
A guest bedroom or a laundry-and-mudroom stretch are good fits too: rooms where nobody wants a visible speaker, but everybody wants sound. How do we put music in a finished kitchen or hallway ceiling?
Every install here starts the same way: we find out what's above the ceiling before we cut anything. A finished kitchen, hallway or condo ceiling usually already has lighting, ductwork or a bathroom fan running through it, so mapping that first is what keeps a Sonos installation clean instead of guesswork.
Finding the spot over the island or down the hall
We map ceiling joists and confirm the two speakers land where the room actually needs even coverage — centred over the island, spread across a hallway, or split across a bedroom — not just wherever framing happens to be easiest.
Checking above a finished ceiling
Each 6-inch speaker needs an 8.25-inch ceiling cutout. Before we cut, we check for pot lights, ductwork, a bathroom fan, insulation, or condo concrete above the ceiling, and confirm the drywall or plaster will support the grille's weight and Roto-Lock mounting.
Running the wire without opening up a wall
Speaker wire is run from each cutout back to the Amp location, terminated on the gold-plated spring terminals, and dressed so nothing is left loose above the ceiling.
Hiding the Amp in a pantry, closet or media cabinet
The Amp goes wherever keeps it out of sight but within reach of power and your network.
Tuning for a hard-surfaced kitchen or bath
Once wired, we connect the Amp to your Sonos system, name the zone, and run Trueplay on a supported iOS device so the pair is tuned to that specific room, not a generic setting.

Can this room join the Sonos you already play in the living room?
If you already run Sonos anywhere in the house — a soundbar, a speaker, another Amp zone — this pair joins that same system and app, no separate hub required. It groups with existing rooms so it plays along with everything else, or on its own when you want just that room. If your Wi-Fi doesn't reach every room evenly, a Wi-Fi optimization visit can be combined with the install. If you don't have Sonos yet, this set becomes zone one, and anything added later — a soundbar, an outdoor pair, a second Amp — joins the same way.
This is an indoor speaker, rated for indoor humidity and temperature only, not a patio, deck or covered porch — ask about the Outdoor Set for those spaces instead. Because the two speakers are passive, they need an amplifier, and the Amp in this set powers them. Already own passive architectural speakers and just need the amplifier? Because that already clears the $1,500 threshold, setup — unboxing, Sonos app and account connection, Wi-Fi, room naming and Trueplay tuning — is included with this set, not an add-on. Reach $3,000 in total Sonos hardware and a $150 install credit toward a future visit is added too.
Setup does not cover ceiling cut-ins, speaker wiring or mounting — that's installation, and it's quoted separately after photos or a short site visit, because every ceiling and every wire run is different.
