Confirming compatibility first
It pairs with specific Sonos soundbars and the Amp — see the full list in “Will It Work With What You Already Own?” below. We check your existing gear against that list before we quote anything.
Choosing placement
The unit can stand upright against a wall or lie flat on the floor, but either way it needs one side of its port left clear. We walk the room, rule out spots that would choke the bass or look wrong next to your furniture, and settle on the one that does both jobs.
Wireless setup, done right
It joins your system over Wi-Fi through the Sonos app — no speaker wire to run for the unit itself. We connect it to your existing room, confirm it’s grouped correctly with your soundbar or speakers, and check the connection holds under normal household Wi-Fi load.
Trueplay tuning for your room
Once the Sub is placed and connected, we run Trueplay tuning so its output — and Phase Control, which locks in during that same tuning pass — matches your walls, floor and furnishings rather than a factory default.
What you see when we leave: one additional black or white unit in the spot we agreed on, already grouped with your soundbar in the Sonos app, tuned for the room, and playing back the same source you had going before we touched anything.

Price: $1,149, sold new through SetupTeam as an authorized Sonos Gold Dealer. Delivery is free across the GTA on every order.
Setup vs. installation — two different things
- Setup (included free once your Sonos hardware order reaches $1,500) covers unboxing, Sonos app and account setup, Wi-Fi connection, room grouping and Trueplay tuning. It does not cover mounting, wiring, or any cut-in work.
- Installation covers the physical work a Sub sometimes needs — cabinet or shelf placement, cable management around furniture, and coordinating the Sub with a larger home theatre build. Installation labour has no fixed published price; we quote it after seeing photos or visiting the room. When you buy your Sonos gear from SetupTeam, that labour is 25% off, with a $200 minimum callout.
Order tiers
- Spend $1,500 or more on Sonos hardware with us and setup is free.
- Spend $3,000 or more and you also get a $150 installation credit, valid for 12 months — useful if you’re adding it now and a wired install later.
Direct answer: buying it on its own from us gets you the box and free GTA delivery. Setup — app pairing, Wi-Fi connection and Trueplay tuning — is $150 unless your Sonos order reaches $1,500, for example together with an Arc Ultra. Anything involving cabinetry, wire runs or a full home theatre build is quoted installation labour, discounted 25% because the hardware came from us.
Will it work with what you already own?
It’s built to work with almost every Sonos home theatre product, and the exceptions are narrow rather than a short approved list.
It runs on the standard Sonos app (S2) — if your household is still on the older S1 Controller app for a legacy system, it won’t join as-is. We’ll talk through what that means for your setup before you order.

What does a Sub 4 sound like in a GTA home?
Once it’s placed correctly and Trueplay-tuned, you get a deeper, felt low end that reaches the seating area instead of staying trapped behind the soundbar.

Adding it behind the media unit is meant to change how the low end lands during a film — placement puts the unit where the bass can reach the seating area instead of getting trapped behind furniture, and Trueplay tuning is what keeps it from sounding boomy against the room’s walls and floor.
Or a condo living room in Liberty Village, where a smaller soundbar was chosen to fit a narrow console. Tucking it beside the TV stand and tuning it for a room with a concrete slab underfoot and glass on one wall is designed to fill in the low end that a compact soundbar can’t produce on its own, without turning music or dialogue muddy.
