How do you install the Port in my home?
We connect the unit's RCA or digital output into your existing receiver or amplifier, wire in any turntable or CD player, get it on your network, and set it up in the Sonos app. The physical wiring labour is quoted after photos or a site visit, since it depends on your cabinet and amplifier's inputs.
This is a component hookup, not a speaker install, so it covers these steps:
Placement
We find a spot near your receiver or amplifier with ventilation and easy cable runs — inside a cabinet, on a shelf, or in a rack.
Wiring
We run the RCA cables from the unit's outputs into your amplifier's input, and connect any existing turntable or CD player into its line-in.
Digital or trigger connection, where useful
If your receiver has a digital coax input, we can use that instead of the analog RCA connection. Where your amplifier supports a 12V trigger, we wire that too, so it wakes on its own when music starts.
Network
We connect it to your home network, by Ethernet where a port is available or over Wi-Fi where it isn't.
App and system setup
We add the streamer to your Sonos app, name the room, and group it with any other Sonos speakers in the house so it plays on its own or as part of the whole-home system.
What you see when we leave
One system in the app with your stereo listed as its own room, your existing remote and receiver still working exactly as before, and a source you can start playing from your phone in seconds.
Not part of this install: cut-ins, wall mounting and new speaker wiring only come into a Sonos Port job when a homeowner is also adding new speakers elsewhere in the house — those steps are quoted separately, not part of connecting the unit itself.
How much does a Sonos Port cost with installation?
The unit itself is $649, delivered free anywhere in the GTA. That price covers the hardware only.
Setup — unboxing, connecting to your network, adding it to the Sonos app and grouping your rooms — is free once your Sonos order reaches $1,500 in hardware, and orders from $3,000 also earn an install credit worth $150 to use within 12 months. On orders under $1,500, setup is $150 when the Port is bought here.
Installation is a different thing from setup. Wiring the Port into your existing receiver, connecting a turntable, running a 12V trigger line, or adding a network drop behind the rack is physical labour, and we quote it after seeing photos or visiting the room — it depends on your cabinet, your cabling and your amplifier's inputs. Buy the Port through us and that labour comes at 25% off, with a $200 minimum per visit.

Does the Port work with my current stereo?
In most cases, yes — the Port works with an AV receiver, a home theatre receiver, or a two-channel hi-fi amplifier, as long as it has a standard RCA or digital coaxial input. The Port connects into that existing input, so your amplifier keeps powering the existing speakers you already own; the Port only adds the streaming and network layer on top.
A turntable or CD player with a line-level output connects into the Port's own line-in the same way, so a phono preamp or an existing turntable setup carries over unchanged. Passive speakers, in-wall speakers, floor-standing towers — whatever is already wired to your amplifier stays wired to it exactly as it is.
What it does not do is replace an amplifier for speakers with no amplifier of their own — for that, a Sonos Amp or an in-wall speaker set with its own amplification is the right product, and we can help you tell the difference before you order either one.
What do I actually need to know about the Port?
It's a small streaming component, not a speaker, that plugs into the receiver or amplifier you already own so it can play music from the Sonos app. It keeps your existing amplifier and speakers doing what they do, adds a network connection, and groups with other Sonos speakers for whole-home audio.
