Cookie Policy
This policy explains what setupteam.ca stores in your browser, what it is for, and how to control it. We keep this deliberately minimal — we do not run advertising cookies and we do not build behavioural profiles.
Effective date: July 16, 2026 · Last updated: July 16, 2026
1. What This Covers
"Cookies" is the common term, but browsers offer several ways to store information, and we use more than one. This policy covers all of them:
- Cookies — small text files a site or a third party stores in your browser
- Session storage — data held by your browser and erased when you close the tab
- Local storage — data held by your browser until it is cleared
- Pixels and scripts — code loaded from another domain that can receive technical information from your browser
This policy sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.
2. Our Approach
We keep browser storage to what the site needs to function and to stay free of automated abuse.
We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies. We do not sell or share your browsing data with advertisers. We do not build behavioural profiles about you.
SetupTeam does not set any first-party tracking cookie of its own. The storage described below is either set by a third-party service we rely on, or is short-lived data held in your browser for the duration of your visit.
3. What We Use and Why
The table below lists what setupteam.ca loads.
| Item | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google reCAPTCHA | Google (third party) | Distinguishes real visitors from automated bots so our contact and booking forms are not abused. Loads on all pages. | Set and controlled by Google |
| Google Maps | Google (third party) | Powers address lookup and autocomplete in our contact and booking forms, so you do not have to type a full address. Loads on all pages. | Set and controlled by Google |
| Google Apps Script | Google (third party) | Receives booking form submissions and passes them to our scheduling process. Contacted when you submit a booking. | Set and controlled by Google |
| Trustindex review widget | Trustindex (third party) | Displays our customer reviews. Loaded from the Trustindex content network only on pages that show reviews — not on this page. | Set and controlled by Trustindex |
utm_data |
SetupTeam (session storage) | Remembers which campaign or link brought you to the site, so an enquiry can be attributed correctly. | Cleared when you close the tab |
utm_timestamp |
SetupTeam (session storage) | Records when the campaign parameters above were captured, so stale attribution is discarded. | Cleared when you close the tab |
4. Third-Party Services in Detail
Google (reCAPTCHA, Maps, Apps Script)
Three Google services are involved in this site. Our contact and booking forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA. It analyses signals from your browser to judge whether you are a person or a bot. This is what stops our forms from being flooded with automated submissions.
reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information from your browser and sends it to Google for analysis. Google's handling of that information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and Google Terms of Service. We do not control what Google collects or how long it retains it.
Google Maps provides address autocomplete in those same forms, and Google Apps Script receives booking submissions. Loading them means your browser contacts Google, which receives technical information such as your IP address as part of that request.
reCAPTCHA is necessary for our forms to operate. If you block it, the contact and booking forms may not submit. You can still reach us by phone at (647) 464-0606 or by email at [email protected].
Trustindex
Our reviews are displayed through a widget supplied by Trustindex, loaded from their content delivery network. Loading it means your browser makes a request to Trustindex, which receives technical information such as your IP address as part of that request.
Trustindex's handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policy. Blocking the widget does not affect the rest of the site.
Campaign attribution
When you arrive from a campaign link, the site reads the campaign parameters from the URL and holds them in your browser's session storage. If you then submit an enquiry, they are attached to it so we know which campaign it came from.
This data stays in your browser and is cleared when you close the tab. It contains campaign labels, not personal information about you.
5. Your Choices
You control what your browser stores.
Browser settings
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies and site data, either generally or for a specific site. The relevant controls are in your browser's privacy or site-settings menu:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
- Safari: Settings → Privacy
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Blocking storage for this site is a valid choice. The consequence is that our forms may stop working, because reCAPTCHA cannot run.
Clearing what is already there
Clearing site data for setupteam.ca in your browser removes everything described in this policy. Session storage clears on its own when you close the tab.
Do Not Track
Browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal, but there is no agreed standard for how sites should respond to it. We do not run behavioural tracking, so there is nothing for us to switch off in response to it.
6. Consent
We do not show a cookie consent banner, because we do not operate advertising or behavioural-profiling cookies that would require one. The storage described here is limited to what keeps the site working and free of automated abuse.
If you are in a jurisdiction that requires consent for the third-party services described above, you can withhold it by blocking site data in your browser before using the site.
7. Changes to This Policy
If we add, remove, or change a service that stores information in your browser, we will update this policy and the "Last updated" date above.
