We probe every plaster wall before drilling, locate and mark the lath positions, and choose anchors based on the actual wall depth. Brick gets diamond bits, slow rotation speed, and controlled pressure. Neither surface is treated like drywall, because they're not drywall.
Our installers are Sonos-trained and Control4-certified. $2,000,000 liability insurance, full WSIB, fully licensed contractor. All hardware — masonry bits, plaster probes, diamond bits, brick sleeve anchors, HDMI cables, power cords — on every truck. If it's not working before we leave, we stay until it is.

Common in homes built before the 1970s across Newmarket's older neighbourhoods. Plaster is hard and brittle — it cracks when drilled carelessly or when anchors are placed without locating the lath first. We probe the surface, identify lath positions, and drill at reduced speed. In-wall cable runs are possible in most plaster walls but require a careful approach.

Brick fireplace surrounds
Wood-burning fireplaces with brick surrounds are typical in older homes here. Mounting above them requires masonry anchors, diamond-tipped drill bits, and a drilling process that's slower and more deliberate than drywall. We confirm heat clearance before picking a mount height and use sleeve anchors rated for the TV's load.

Newer subdivisions — Stonehaven, Woodland Hill, Glenway
Newer builds in the northern subdivisions — Stonehaven, Woodland Hill — are standard metal stud drywall — straightforward for both mounting and in-wall cable runs. In-wall power kits with recessed outlets fit cleanly. If you're in a brand-new home here, the installation is no different from any other modern GTA suburb.

Equipment access and storage placement
Older homes in this area often have equipment cabinets, cable boxes, and streaming devices in different locations relative to the TV wall. In some cases, hiding the cable run requires planning around baseboards, door frames, or limited ceiling access. We route the path before committing, and we discuss options before any cuts are made.

In-wall cable runs are possible in most plaster-on-lath walls. The cavities between lath strips are narrower than modern drywall, which limits the size of cable bundles, but a single HDMI and power feed fits in almost all cases. We confirm the cavity dimensions before committing to an in-wall route.
